Trailer Living: Don’t underestimate the power of 365 days

A year ago this month I altered my lifestyle.

I’d started my something.

I’d quit the job that was slowly but surely eroding peace in my life (hello, stroke-level blood pressure and panic attacks).

I’d been to Kenya and back on a reporting assignment.

I’d had to move out of my cottage because skunks had moved in.

I’d spent three weeks living with a friend.

And then I made my move.

Back into Mom’s house.

Because sometimes when you survey your life and you decide the direction you want it to go, you have to take radical leaps and make brazen choices.

We’ve lived a good life these past 365 days.

No fighting, no arguments.

I make sure to throw away the used egg shells instead of putting them back in the carton, and she’s thrown every Sweet-N-Low packet she’s used, not leaving one on the counter.

We’ve traveled together, raised a litter of puppies together, survived a break-in together, volunteered together, been a part enough to still love each other and embarked on this crazy #rvlife adventure together.

Where I am today is not where I would’ve guessed I’d be 365 days ago.

But radical leaps and brazen choices often do just that – take you where you least expected. And where you least expected is often where you find everything you need.
