About me

Holly Wise is the director of journalism school engagement at the Solutions Journalism Network where she consults with university professors and lecturers who are interested in teaching solutions journalism. She holds workshops at universities across the country and appears as a presenter and speaker at journalism and educator conferences.holly

She is a journalism lecturer at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas where she teaches advanced news writing and multimedia courses, and introduced a solutions journalism course. In 2015 she launched the Texas State Global News Team, which embeds mass communication students with international service learning study abroad programs.

She is the founder of VoiceBox Media, a news production company that recruits university students to produce rigorous coverage of social problems and how communities solve them. She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism and master’s degree in mass communication from Murray State University.

She lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband and two German shepherds.
