Meet our daughter, Saira Loving

On Friday, May 25, our little family grew, and suddenly it feels as though this tiny 7-pound being has always been part of us.

There is everything about this week I don’t want to forget.

Laboring with my husband and Mom to bring her into the world; those precious few hours after her birth and days in the hospital with just the three of us; introducing her to her grandpa, grandma, aunties and her two dogs; these sacred nights and hallowed days of her tiny strong body resting, nourishing on top of mine, all while our ministers disperse generational wisdom, feed us, mow our grass, cut our tree branches, vacuum our floors, pack our moving boxes, provide our naps, and fulfill the mundane tasks to keep our world turning – a world that has oddly slowed to revolve around this addition who is both new to us and also wonderfully known.

Marvelous ripples of love from aunties and uncles and friends and cousins in far-away places have bathed us in texts, FaceTime, phone calls, surprise Amazon box deliveries, Facebook messages and notes.

Even the orchid decided to bloom this week.

We are stuffed to the brim with love and we receive it all with so much gratitude.

Now, there’s a little face I’m going to go continue staring into.
