Trailer Living: Am I too old for this?

I thought that last night.

I was going to bed in the spare bedroom (the 6-person tent set up near the travel trailer), and it was drizzling rain outside. My blankets, pillows and two 4-inch thick mattresses from the trailer were dry, but the air was moist. I swatted away a few bugs and while I spread one of the pink blankets over my farm-animal-covered pajamas, I thought:

I’m sleeping in a tent in the rain outside my travel trailer. Am I too old for this life?

Sometimes those thoughts flicker through my mind.

Am I pushing the societal boundaries of what’s acceptable for someone who’s about to turn 31?

Well, yeah. I probably am.

For starters, my mom’s my roommate. And we play a lot of Yahtzee.

I think it’s OK to take a peak through the fences society’s constructed for us. And maybe dance a bit on the other side.

To be honest, I mostly wanted to sleep in my tent last night because I didn’t want to haul my bedding inside and even more largely because I wanted to prove to myself that I could and that I would sleep alone in the tent in the rain.

And in the morning, when my alarm went off at 6, I got up and did very adult things.

I went to the university and I taught my class.
